“Music is the answer.”

The power of music is akin to other art.

It’s unique due to its ability to transcend language. It provides both a solo listening experience, and the most essential ingredient for social gatherings.

I went to an international high school and my German friends promptly got me deeply rooted in techno and electronic music.

I had always enjoyed messing around with the piano in an attempt to write music, and grew up editing videos, building computer games and spending a bunch of time on my trash-picked computer.

Naturally, I became absorbed once I found the music software Fruity Loops Studio in 2009.

I was listneing to a lot of “complextro” at the time – “Complex electro house” which included a lot of 8-bit type sounds and started producing under the name ElectroBillE (or BillE for short) with the “E” replacing the typical “Y” to represent “electro.”

My sister and most of my friends always called what I made “video game music” and with my first remix being of the Tetris theme song, that sounds like a fair assessment.

In my first few weeks at college, I made friends with the main DJ on campus, a basketball player who was the President of the fraternity I ended up joining.

Marshall showed me the ropes of the business and helped me hone my craft so that once he graduated, I became the campus DJ at Ohio Wesleyan.

More people called me ‘Bill-E” than “Billy”

When I returned back to campus in Spring of 2014 after being stuck on a sailboat on a sandbar in southern Mexico for two months, I met OH3.

I discovered moombahton in 2012, a mix of dutch house and reagaton that had sprung up in the Washington D.C. scene the over the last year or so

This evolution also brought me to find “my style” and develop a sound and a vision for the type of music I wanted to create.

I stumbled into creating my own subgenre – “Midwest Moombahton” with the creation of the DASTAMON character.
